The new DJI Mini 5 Pro drone is a sub-250g (249.9g) drone, which makes it compliant with some regulations. In addition to the 1-inch camera CMOS sensor and other camera updates, it also brings an Intelligent Flight Battery providing up to 36 minutes of flight time, upgraded ActiveTrack 360°, forward-facing LiDAR, and vision sensors, which are a part of the Omnidirectional Vision and Obstacle Sensing System that should make it better at detecting and avoiding obstacles even during night flying. The DJI Mini 5 Pro is also faster at 65km/h and can climb up at 10m/s.
The biggest update and something that makes the Mini 5 Pro special is the use of a 50-megapixel 1-inch large CMOS sensor for the camera as well as a new 48mm Med-Tele mode, which promises exceptional camera capabilities even in low-light conditions as well as higher digital zoom resolution. The camera will offer 4K/60fps HDR video recording and slow-motion mode with 4K/120fps. The camera also has a wide-angle 225° roll rotation and true vertical shooting, which, combined with modes like QuickShot Rotate, Timelapse, Spotlight, and Waypoint Flight, promise great video shots.
The DJI Mini 5 Pro also comes with the DJI O4+ video transmission system with a range of up to 20km, a larger 2,788mAh battery, which promises up to 36 minutes of flight time (or up to 52 hours with the 4,680mAh Flight Battery Plus option). Bear in mind that the larger and heavier Flight Battery Plus is not sold in Europe as it pushes the drone over the 250g weight limit.
The DJI Mini 5 Pro starts at €799 for the base kit with drone and the controller, while the Fly More Combo for €999 or €1,129, depending if you go for the RC-N3 or RC 2 controller.
