The most powerful 11-incher powered by a nice Sandy Bridge has just   gone available in some EU countries. 
According to Alienware's website   the new 11.6-inch notebook gets a choice of two CPUs, an Intel Core   i5-2537M Processor with 3MB of  cache and a 1.40 GHz base clock. This   baby overclocks at least one core all the way to 2.3GHz, with turbo of   course. 
The faster CPU is Core i7 i7-2617M, again a 17W TDP core with 1.5GHz   basic clock and 2.6 GHz turbo. Have in mind that this is outstanding   score for a 17W TDP part. Current Alienware MX11 R2 has a choice of Core   i7 640UM or Core i5 520UM, 18TDP processors. The latter works at   1.06GHz and, if necessary, it automatically overclocks to 1.86GHz while   the Core i7 640UM overclockts to 2.26GHz. 
Graphics of choice is Nvidia Geforce GT 540M, a Direct X 11 part with   96 shaders, 1344MHz shader core as well as 10.8 billion texture fill   rate. The card has DDR3 memory at 900MHz with a 128-bit memory bus. 
You can get between 4 and 16GB DDR3 of memory, the display is same   old 11.6-inch panel in 1366x768 resolution and the machine still weighs   2kg (4.4 lbs). Prices start from €1049 for Core i5 2537M with 2GB. UK   chaps have to dish out £899 for it.

Alienware  MX14 R3 is also  avaialable, starting at €1199 UK (£1099)  it offers a choice of CoreTM i7  2820QM quad core (2.4GHz/8MB cache),  CoreTM i7 2720QM (2.2GHz/6MB  cache)or CoreTM i7 2630QM (2GHz/6MB  cache), 3072MB GeForce GT555M or  1536MB GeForce GT555M responsible for  graphics, a choice of hi-res or  plain 14.0-inch display in 1600x900 and  1366x768 respectively. It weighs  in at 2.92 kg (6.45lbs) with an 8-cell battery.

The most powerful one, M17X comes  with 2GHz Quad Core i7 2630QM,  2.2GHz Quad Core i7 2720QM or 2.3GHz  Quad Core i7 2820QM, 4 to 16GB of  DDR3, a choice of Radeon HD 6970M with  2GB memory, Radeon HD 6870M or  Geforce GTX 465M. You can get up to  1.5TB storage and 17.3-inch screens  in 1600x900 or 1920x1080. Prices  start at €1699 but if you got for  better screen with 3D support, 16GB  ram, 1.5TB drive and top nothc  Radeon HD 6970M you can easily pass the  €4000 price mark. The UK model  starts at £1,499 but a few extra clicks  for the higher spec and 4 year  warranty got us to £3,843.98.
