Greeted with big yawn

Sony
has been showing off its new motion-control video system called PlayStation Move, however it has not got much love from reviewers.

The system was on display at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. The wand-like device uses motion controllers and the PlayStation eye camera to track body movements.

Sony's marketing boss Peter Dille said that it was the next generation of motion gaming. However, Sony missed the first generation and lost ground to the cheap and cheerful Nintendo Wii, which did have a motion controller.

Reviewers do not seem that impressed. The people we have talked to say that there is a real lack of anything new in the technology. The feeling was that it didn't do anything that the Wii could not and was behind Microsoft's controller-free system Natal.

Sony's controller will go on sale in the autumn and will cost less than £47.
