Monaco, who joined the software giant in July after serving as deputy attorney general under Joe Biden, found herself in Trump’s firing line on Friday.
On his Truth Social soapbox, Trump insisted Microsoft “immediately terminate the employment of Lisa Monaco. She is a menace to US National Security, especially given the major contracts that Microsoft has with the United States Government.”
He ranted that Monaco had been stripped of security clearances, banned from federal buildings, and cut off from intelligence after “many wrongful acts.” He did not say what the wrongful acts were but we suspect it was taking him to court all those times.
Trump’s tirade came just a day after prosecutors indicted former FBI boss James Comey on charges of false statements and obstruction. The ex-president also claimed Monaco was “a purported pawn” of Andrew Weissmann, one of the senior lawyers from Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.
Trump said more people on his enemies list to be indicted soon. Microsoft refused to comment, and Monaco didn’t respond.
The row erupted as the Vole disabled access for Israel’s defence ministry to certain services after evidence emerged that its Azure cloud was being used to surveil Gaza residents. The Guardian reported in August that Israel had been storing civilian data on Microsoft’s servers as part of the effort.
Top Vole Satya Nadella joined Trump at the White House with other tech chiefs to chat about investment. The company has promised to hand the US government $3.1 billion in discounted cloud services.
