CNET has been
naming and shaming Apple, HP and Sony for releasing overpriced laptops for
people with too much money.
Top of the list is Hewlett-Packard Voodoo Envy
133, which costs $2,700 despite the fact that it hasn't been updated in almost
eight months and is obsolete. The NV4050NA is priced at $2,699.99 but the buyer
only gets an external optical drive and a power adapter with a wireless access
point built in.
Next up is the 13-inch Sony Vaio Z Series VGN-Z590UBB model
is priced at $3,899.99. It comes with a pathetic one-year warranty and really
nothing to write home about. On the name and shame list is the 12-inch
Fujitsu LifeBook B6230 which is priced at $1,799. However it ships with an
Intel ULV U7600 (1.2 GHz) processor which is so old that it was used to measure
pooh tonnage on Noah's Ark.
CNET also names and shames Apple's MacBook Air
which at $2,500 is just too expensive in an age where people are now starting to
get some common sense. CNET thinks it is probably worth less than $2500 with
the rest holding up the Apple logo and sod all else.
